Hon. David Olofu, a former Benue State commissioner for finance, will receive a chieftaincy title in Otukpo on Saturday.
His Royal Majesty, Agaba’Idu, Elias Odogbo John, Och’Idoma V, signed a notification letter from the Idoma Area Traditional Council that contained this information.
The paramount ruler claims that because of his long history of supporting his people’s security and safety and providing for them, the great philanthropist was nominated from his immediate chiefdom of Apa LGA in Benue State.
“This is about the letter dated May 27, 2024, which proposes that you be granted the Chieftaincy Title in Idoma Kingdom.”Your immediate Intermediary Council, which determined that you had made outstanding contributions to the advancement of both your local communities and the Idoma kingdom overall, has recommended you for nomination. As a result, the Idoma Kingdom has freely bestowed upon you this distinguished title in appreciation of the contributions you have made to the kingdom.
A portion of the letter stated, “The date of conferment is June 29, 2024, at the Och’Idoma Council’s Hall by 10 am.”
Nevertheless, following the conferment ceremony, Agaba’Idu urged Hon. Olofu to “organize your reception in any way that you want”.
Olofu, the most recent commissioner of finance for the state of Benue, also held the position of chairman of the Forum of State Commissioners for Finance of Nigeria for two terms, during which he led the organization with distinction and gave the federal and subnational governments of Nigeria practical economic advice.
In addition to providing infrastructure, social amenities, empowerment, and welfare packages to his people in Apa, Hon. Olofu has stood by them during the difficult Fulani herder invasions, bringing security presence to the area by lobbying the government and traditional institutions.
Olofu serves as the Governors Forum in Nigeria’s senior technical advisor at the moment.
