The annual New Yam festival popularily called “Ujor Festival” of Agila took place today ikorodu in Lagos. This is to celebrate the annual bountiful harvest of food stuff, especially the yam. By this it is believed that as they celebrate the blessings of bountiful harvest this year, the gods of their fatherland shall continue to prosper their handy work. This year celebration is hosted by the Chief of Agila General Meeting in the person of Chief Sunday Oja.
In his opening speech, he thank the almighty God for life and blessing of the bountiful harvest, he encourage everyone that, even in the present economic hardship, as we thank God, and celebrate his benevolence, there is hope for better days ahead.
