In an unwavering commitment to safeguard the peace, security, and well-being of the people of Otukpo, the Executive Chairman, Prince Maxwell Ogiri, has declared an immediate and uncompromising ban on all scavenging and condemned iron (“Pantaker”) business activities across the entire local government area.
Effective Friday, 28th February 2025, all scavengers and dealers in condemned iron are ordered to vacate their business premises and remove all stocks from Otukpo within seven (7) days—without exception.
This decisive action has become imperative due to the alarming nuisance these activities have caused. Criminal elements have infiltrated this trade, using it as a convenient cover for theft, vandalism, and other illicit operations that threaten the peace and security of our people. This administration will not stand idly by while law-abiding citizens continue to suffer under the menace of criminality disguised as commerce.
To ensure absolute compliance, Prince Ogiri has directed all security agencies and licensed vigilante groups to enforce this executive order with full force and without delay. Violators will face severe consequences, as the government remains resolute in its mission to eradicate any threat to the stability and safety of Otukpo.
The Chairman calls on all well-meaning residents to support this directive and remain vigilant. His administration remains steadfast in upholding law, order, and the collective security of the people of Otukpo.
Further updates will be communicated as necessary. The time for action is now—there will be no compromise!
