Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, has launched a collaboration with Google to provide information and communication technology (ICT) training to 10,000 young people around the state.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the program aims to equip young people with the skills they need to succeed in the digital economy and to empower them.
The governor underlined the significance of the ICT training initiative, which aims to divert young people from the streets and provide them with useful digital skills.
We have started educating 10,000 young people about information and communication technology (ICT) in collaboration with Google. This program will provide you the tools you need to succeed in the digital economy and will lead to countless opportunities,” he stated.
In her remarks, Governor Alia also touched on the subject of young delinquency, pleading with individuals engaged in drug addiction, cultism, online fraud, and other social vices to pick the correct paths and embrace peace.
“I implore the young people engaged in all forms of criminal activity in the State to give up their weapons, embrace peace, and make the right decisions. He declared, “Yahoo-Yahoo, drug abuse, cultism, and other social vices are a cankerworm that I would never allow them to indulge in.”
Other programs for youth development
Governor Alia unveiled further plans to assist Benue State’s youth development in addition to the ICT training.
“Our administration is working with the UN to sponsor the UN Volunteer Scheme, which some state kids will be taking part in very soon. In addition, we are building a fashion hub—a place where opportunity and creativity collide. In addition to promoting innovation, this hub will generate employment in an effort to support the ascent of a new generation of Benuean fashion entrepreneurs, he disclosed.
Governor Alia used this important partnership with Google to demonstrate the administration’s dedication to youth development.
“We are aware that Benue State’s growth can be achieved through the development of our youth. For this reason, we’ve started a number of projects that are meant to provide you more control and provide you with chances to develop,” Alia said.
